The Christmas holiday was spent baking with ZL...as she embark on baking her 2 most-wanted pastry: Pancake Cupcake & Cinammon roll! Both of which the first time we're making it...
While im rather proficient whipping up simple meals, baking is very much an unchartered grd for me until recently...well at least im beginning to know what to do now, so not tht bad..haha
The pancake cupcake is a maple & cinammon flavoured cupcake...the steps are quite direct i wld say, at least there's no need to knead the dough and stuff...juz mix everything can le..haha...turns out not bad...haha, not forgetting, zl added her signature "thousand and hundreds"...haha.and its small enough for me to eat a few at 1 go...
The cinammon roll was much tougher...as our mixer cldnt really mix the dough well, end up i had to do manually....shag. It was fun tho, looking at the processing of raising the dough....very different from those we've done b4....but it didnt came thru, as the we took it out of the oven to realise it tasted bland and too hard for a bread....it was quite bad.
Nvtheless still ate 2 of it...well, its abit lyk scones...having it with maple syrup was not bad too..haha. We're not tht sure what went wrong..certainly the incomplete recipe we got from Ikea during 1 of our trips was to blame!! We also realise the yeast we put was much more than other recipes online...
So much it caused ZL to have a stomach upset..vormit some more...poor thing. Tho we failed...its alright, it was meant to be a try-out anyway...we'll try again ya!!:)Get well soon dear...

Its the time of the year again...christmas!!My fav time of the year...zl n i are also celebrating our 2nd Anniversary!!
This year celebration is more exciting...as i planned an entire day's activity, all of which are Zl's fav!Haha...well, to make up for the not-so-exciting birthday for Zl and to reward ourselves for the tough year we've had-muggin thru the days in school for our Final ExaMs, stressing for our job search, planning for our grad trip, adapting to our new phase in life with work....it sure have been a fruitful and long year we've had....its not always easy, so its also to thank zl for being with me=) First stop was Botanical Gardens, because zl has been wanting to bring Happy out for quite awhile le. i prepared breakfast comprising of Bagel, cinnamon and garlic toast, scrambled egg and bacon!! While the bread items werent that tasty, the bacon and eggs were nice...all thanks to the video tt i learnt from online. There was also meat for Happy(our guest)haha...its been a long time since we brought him out for a run(he loves it). Once again, it wasnt as relaxing with Happy...but it wasnt too bad...
Oh and Zl made great-looking rainbow cupcakes for me...specially went to stay over at her grandma's place to bake the fruit-cupcake...for some reasons i just love fruit cupcakes, tho its a cheapo food..haha..Thanks dear for all the trouble..loved it.In the afternoon, we had Zl's fav 3 tier traditional afternoon tea!! I kept the location secret throughout the train ride til we were there..haha. Its at Fullerton Hotel. We had the high tea at The Courtyard....the serve the 3 tier sandwiches, scones and desserts with a selection of teas. It wasnt a buffet style so they'll just come and ask if you would like any item to be replenished. We sat and talk and enjoyed seating in the middle of the hotel, looking at the flowing bubbles that floated all ard us(the hotel had a bubble machine right on top..it was quite magical) and listening to the pianist....it was perfect. I gave Zl her card that i prepared....=)The scones there are damn nice especially the premium jam that it was served with...it was THE best jam ever. There were salmon bagel, crab meat with baggeutte, egg mayo sandwich....desserts were not bad but not the best...

Its been a long time we had time to talk about things other than our work, away from how busy we are and how we have to plan our times...complain about life's miseries...and just merely talk abt random stuff that comes into our mind. I guess it was a really enjoyable time...after high tea, we took a short walk to One fullerton and the Fullerton Bay hotel-all very good view!!As for the night, again I kept ZL guessing on where and what we are doing...we took a bus to RWS where we watched the Circus show Voyage De La Vie!! Though it resembles First World Genting(which isnt tht spectacular) RWS is still a Happy place to be...and there were loads of people.

The show started with the performers interacting with the audience...climbing thru the seats like spiders and performing simple magic on stage...not bad a start...While it lacks a narrator which wld help us understand the underlying meaning behind..the show was pretty exciting, and there are many talented performers....tho i found it abit short for the price. Its also the first Circus that i see in SG...so im pretty satisfied...I got ZL a rose pink laptop bag which is versatile and compact for her work...and Uniqlo Heattech longjohn for her Jan trip....While I got a great looking watch from FCUK...just what i needed!Hope you had a memorable day...

its a short weekend this week, and it only means an even more jam packed 2 days worth of activities before i head back to work...
Celebrated Dad's Bdae at Peach Garden OCC.. quite a huge place, quite shiok to be heading to a club and juz relax for a sat morning. We had Dim Sum and zl had her fav Custard baosss..which were really gd. Custard was like oozing out and taste gd as well...the rest were not bad too.
After tht we head down to visit Tubby at the vet hospital. She's old alr and not in gd shape..seeing her in such a bad condition really saddens me...coz i use to spend alot of time with her when i go to my grandma's place after sch. When i called her name, she cldnt even stand up or anything...only mustered enough strength to sit up. And as I stroked her head, and talked to her..she just looked back to me...her eyes, i thought, was teary. Haiz...Staying in the hospital is not only a lot of money, but she's pretty much living in a prison and without the family.Seeing her like tht, i really dunoe to hope she can get to go home or shld we end her suffering...I dunoe if i'll see her again, but seeing the look in her eyes...really made me felt that she really loves the family alot and she's sad to be there and like tt...Hope the best for her!!
After tht, went furniture shopping with Zl and then there's soccer with the guys...which is a blast.(as always)...gonna be another 2 weeks of stayin in!sooon soon..i'll be out!!

THe heat has been grossly unfriendly these days....any moment w/o the fan and im perspiring alr...arghh
Been catching the latest Season of Amazing race during my spare time recently...my all time favourite show....

And i not just because i get to see them travel to some of the most interesting and exotic places on earth, and not just cause its damn exciting especially when 2 teams are very close to each other( in fact im beginning to realise many times the producer just create a false impression tht the 2 teams are tight...10 out of 10 times the 1 in the lead gets to the end pt first...so it isnt tht close really)
The thing abt AR, is that i get to see how the relationships of each team affect how the team members react and interact with each other....as usual there is the father-son, Mom-daughter(usually wun last tht long)...the couples(interesting to see em fight over the smallest things)...the friends(who are usually the ones with great teamwork)....and once in a while gay/lesbians(whom i think are there for entertainment sake)

Its not hard to pick up lessons like "never give up" during the show...as the father(in the father-son) team showed when he suffered from heat exhaustion. Sure wasnt easy for him...but curz they didnt just give up...they kept themselves in the game...I guess often we raise the white-flag too easily, reluctant to challenge our comfort level...
And in the same episode...when the gf(frm this ah-lian/ah beng couple team) made a mistake...the guy was so pissed with her he kept scolding her and calling her names. The girl whom at first i thot was a strong ah lian, actually didnt react with vulgarities....instead she just kept apologising(like how a girl-next-door would)...surprising!!
And thru-out the challenge, he kept on with his demoralising talks...blaming her....until she suffered a slight asthma attack. Immediately he woke up and turned nice and understanding towards her...haha!! At least it shows he's just saying the nasty words out of anger...still cares abt her...
iT is these amazing twist and turn and how ppl's roles change as the game goes tht i enjoy watching the show tht much....often u only get to see how dependable ppl are in times of difficulties...

Spent 32 bucks for a night with the ghosts and the undead...at the Night Safari!! It was a triple date with Jav and John and their gfs!!
It wasnt too long ago when we last went to the safari, but these time rd it was much more fun!!The wandering actors at the entrance was great, and they set the mood for us...as u can see we were rather scared taking photos with some of them...the green guy(below) obviously knew we were afraid of him...so he tried to frighten us after the shoot..leaving us scrambling away!!haha...i was scared!!(the first time tt nigth)
Some other ghost were more friendly...there was the Japanese soldier who played along with all the funny poses that we made!

We went for the animal show first, and it was rather disappointing as the animals werent cooperative...the hyena didnt wana come out, and when he did...he poo-ed infront of everyone...guess they were distracted by the endless screaming ard the safari tt night!! And i thot the attempts in making the show more related to Halloween were poor and not interesting....

THe Forest Giant trail which became the Trail of the undead was not bad...there werent tt many ghosts..but still quite shiok....the conjourned twin sisters were quite scary according to zl...on their own they dun look tht scary, but its their acting tht i think makes em eery...so kudos to the actors!!

The tram of terror was gd...even tho the ride ended being a "Spot the next ghost (before they scare u" ride...there were certain parts where they confused us with fake figurines and man-sized boards...it was quite exciting, like in the movies...
in fact, the whole trip on the tram...i was practically on my toes...looking out like a security guard for their sneak attacks!!heee....
as for the animals.....err, dun really rem seeing em!!haha...

We then queued 1hr for the Haunted House(Gui Mansion)....we waited and waited...all of us cant wait to get in the house...but when we finally reached, we rushed thru the house in less than 5 mins i think!!haha...wth....
i scared myself the moment i went in...mistaking a peice of floating clothe as a ghost!!haha..so embarassing...after tt we just went from room to room screaming at every ghost tht we see...i sorta realise if u scream they know u see em and they'll leave u alone.haha....the method was quite useful...
The house was too short an attraction to be queuing for 1 hr!!!

We didnt go back to the safari after wards coz we were quite tired and hungry...so altho we didnt see the animals much...i enjoyed the night quite alot...and surprisingly john wasnt tt scared thru out...and i thot he wld be the worst!!haha

I wld say its worth the money...for a night of gd qlty fun!!Not much really fun things u can do in SG these days!!

Ever since early this year, i havent been listening to much music...and following albums and stuff....cant listen while studying, been playin non-stop for holiday and most days after work too...
Have been llistening quite abit recently tho...with Lee hom's and Nicky Lee's new albums....music works all the time when im shag...when im in need of inspiration and when i need to be alone....
One last week before i'll be heading in to OCS....kinda excited yet also a little hesitant...wondering if what my friend said is true....he told me" spent 2 yrs to get out of this shit, yet im dropping myself back into it!"....haha. I just hope im not too old for all these...
Took me 2 mths to get use to working...and now i have to come to terms with staying -in...hope it doesnt go all the way til next yr....

Those were the days...me the fat boy with uncle

As we start work, we get to enjoy the days after work when there's no more HomeWork!(Tho not all the time), we enjoy the extra few bucks we get to indulge every now n then...but just like school, it becomes a large part of our lives...
In the morning, we prep for work....we travel to work, we have lunch with our colleagues, we go back to work til the evening and by the time we're back hm...not much of us is left. And the same goes on day after day...
The sudden lack of time in my life, made me realise that as much as work is important as it defines how much i earn(haha)...we should not forget our family and our loved ones...maybe its because my boss always ask me abt what the company means to me, what my job means to me...and stuff like tht.It also got me thinking abt the same for my loved ones...what they mean to mean and whether i tk em for granted...
Besides the 8-10 hrs we spend at our work place everyday(some times more for some ppl!)...hm is where we spend the next bulk of our time...and for those ppl who travel overseas for work, time for family and loved ones become even more precious...
So guess its as impt to work...as to rem the most basic part of our lives...

Its interesting how birthdays evolve over the years...from the little kid that yearned his own birthday party at kindergarden, giving out pre-packed sweets (prepared by mom)...to my 21st with john at the chalet-getting dumped in the sea....
Ive reached my 25th now birthdays have become a day you would want to pamper yourself and enjoy the things u like best...And thats what i got from zl!
Coming up with her own menu and getting all the ingredients...she prepared a buffet breakfast for me. Even tho i sorta guessed it wld be at her place, didnt expect her to prepare such a spread!!haha.
We had American breakfast, Fluffy pancakes, Baggel, and Egg's Benedict...all of my very fav!!Gd thing she prepared some of the ingredients before hand, so we can still have a relaxed meal tgt. The roasted potatoes were awesome, zl also mixed her own salad dressing which altho abit sour was not bad too...loved the poached eggs and the scrambled eggs and toast too!!!yea!!

After breakfast, we watched The Backup Plan( finally after soooo long!!). Quite like the movie...thought it reflects well of the need for mutual support when the wife's going thru all the bodily changes for carrying a child!not bad!
then there was the Banana Choc mousse cake that ZL made herself!!yea!!The mousse was nice and dark enough....i loved it! We fnshed it quite quickly!!ha
For dinner, ZL found this new place Parco and we ate at Tomi Sushi. It serves authentic jap food, especially for their sashimi!! I chose the Sashimi Set while ZL had the tempura one!!
It feels great to be in a restaurant with japs around and serves real jap food(sakae and sakura are all wanabess), reminds me of Japan-all the good food and service!
Anw, sashimi was great(the best ive had in SG so far, beats all the hotels too)...and zl's tempura was done well also.
Seems like we ate alot for my birthday celebration...
But every ounce fatter is worth it....for the time spent getting the ingredients, making the cake, shaggin ure arms beating the mousse til done, waking up early to cook and finding the dinner place!!
Thanks dear! =)
